Typically you will be referred for a cardiology specialist opinion by your GP. An appointment will be made by our Practice Manager, Helen Carr. Your GP will write a referral letter which you will usually bring with you to your appointment.
If you are privately insured you should contact your insurance company for authorisation for the consultation and testing.
We are also happy to assess patients who wish to pay for their own assessment and treatment (self pay patients). Our Practice Manager will be able to discuss the costs of assessment and any possible treatment.
Typical symptoms we are asked to assess:
Chest pain
Shortness of breath on exertion
Palpitations/irregular heart beat
Dizziness
Heart murmur has been detected
High blood pressure
Abnormal findings on tests - ECG, chest x-ray etc.
Screening for heart disease
insurance company requests
family history/risk factors for heart disease
screening of young adults for unsuspected heart disease
